You want to shed extra pounds and cultivate a positive body image.
FINDING THE TIME AND ENERGY TO EXERCISE CAN BE DIFFICULT
Even when you do find time to hit the gym, regardless of having a schedule that’s full of work, family time, and other obligations, you might be bored by your same old workout. There’s nothing exciting about another go-round on the treadmill or elliptical – and you might need some encouragement to stick to a schedule and achieve your fitness goals.
Martial arts classes for adults focus on building core strength and cardiovascular fitness in a fun, social setting. Why not break out of your dull routine?
BETTER YOURSELF WITH EVERY CLASS!
Our martial arts classes for adults can help you build core strength, increase your flexibility, learn how to defend yourself and the people you love, or lose weight. They’re also a great place to make new friends. Whatever your fitness goals are, you can achieve them in our classes.
LEARN HOW TO STAND UP FOR YOURSELF
Many people feel vulnerable and wish that they had a way to defend themselves if they end up in a dangerous situation.
Martial arts classes build strength, confidence, and agility while teaching basic but effective self-defense moves.
Studying martial arts can help you shake feelings of vulnerability and believe in your ability to ward off an attack.
FEEL GREAT ABOUT YOURSELF
It’s common for adults to struggle with self-esteem as they deal with competitive work environments and overloaded to-do lists.
Adults who study martial arts learn to search within themselves for their best qualities. They learn to self-motivate and not to worry what others think of them.
Martial arts instruction encourages students to feel good about themselves as they master new techniques.
CHALLENGING, CALORIE-BURNING WORKOUTS
One of the keys to losing weight is finding a workout that you genuinely like doing.
Martial arts workouts are fun and challenging. They burn calories while also building muscles and ramping up your metabolism.
Regular martial arts workouts can help you lose weight steadily, especially when combined with a healthy diet.
REGULAR EXERCISE HELPS ALLEVIATE ANXIETY
All people need an outlet for their worry and anxiety – and martial arts classes provide it.
In the absence of such an outlet, you might carry anxiety inside of you and inadvertently take it out on other people.
Martial arts classes burn calories, release tension and anxiety, and help keep you on an even keel mentally and emotionally.
I have been a student at Master Overbey’s for several years, and have observed classe, as well. He affords equal courtesy and respect to every student regardless of their skill level or advancement. He instills the same, and students respond well to his teaching. I can say with conviction that you, or your child, will be the better for his teaching. His family exhibits the same dedications.
I have been so impressed with Master Overbey and everyone who works with him. My son has learned a lot, improved his concentration at school and has become even more polite while having a ton of fun. He has also attended the summer camps and day camps when school happens to have a day off. He loved the summer camp so much this year that he can’t wait for next summer so he can do it again. If you are looking for something that helps your child become a well rounded person and a place that rewards their students for getting good grades, doing good deeds and reading on top of teaching them self defense skills and teaching an anti-bullying message, this is definately where you want to have them go!
My two children, 6 and 5, have been going here for almost a year and a half. My daughter showed early markers for ADD, and the psychologist who tested her recommended martial arts to help her learn focus. The difference in her over the last year is amazing. She is listening more, and her goal is to be a pink power ranger (or to get a black belt like Noah, one of the older kids there!).
The best part of the school is that the kids there are wonderful – even the older kids are respectful, and are patient and kind to my younger ones. I really think this is a special place. The instructors use role modeling and patience, rather than intimidation or shame, to get the best from the kids. There are older kids who help with every class, and to a one they are all great kids. I can’t overemphasize how much I appreciate this place as a safe place for my kids to learn life skills and to be good citizens.
Master Overbey’s program is the best! Our oldest has been attending classes for about a year and a half now and has learned so much about respect, safety, and focus along with technique. We just started his 4 yr old brother and I am amazed every class how well he participates and how Master Overbey makes the class material pertain to any age group- even a preschooler!
